Flying High
Before last Saturday, the last time I flew a kite was sometime in the late 80′s. So when I looked around the Washington Monument grounds during the Smithsonian Kite Festival and saw 8 year olds expertly manuevering complex stunt kites, I looked at my little borrowed parafoil kite and realized I was about to get schooled. No matter though. A little humility never hurt anyone. In any case, after a few (okay, many) attempts, Alli and Chris and I helped “the little kite that could” soar high among the rest of ‘em. Our kite is the little checkered one next to the Washington Monument below.

I missed my plane to Tinseltown. All because I went to the wrong Metrobus stop. The result? 8 extra hours at Dulles.
